2.How does the building elevator work？


The working principle of building elevator is based on the rope and pulley system where the elevator car is connected to the one end of the traction wire through the traction sheave and another end is connected to the traction machine.
For balancing the lode (weight) inside the elevator car , Sheave has been attached with the counterweight. In order to make the elevator car and counterweight in the hoistway run along the guided rail in the hoistway a guided wheel has been placed which separate both of them and also prevent them rubbing from each other.
The gravity of the car and the counterweight causes the traction rope to be compressed in the traction sheave groove to generate friction. The rotation of the motor drives the rotation of the traction sheave while rotating the traction sheave ,drives the wire rope and drags the car and the counterweight for relative movement. Thus, When the car rises, the counterweight drops and when the counterweight rises the car drops with the help of traction sheave and machine by this phenomenon the elevator works.

So you can say that the working precept of an elevator is very much similar to the pulley system. As in the pulley system, there is a bucket and a rope with a wheel. As this system, present elevators are used in the same process.
But the basic difference between these two is those pulley systems are operated manually and the elevator needs a mechanism for the whole process.
